Untitled Stories (2009)
A series of works presented as photo-novels, the format inspired by the tradition of graphic novels, specifically of Franco-Belgian school. The characters of each story are always two men, setting a different modern metropolis each time. The men either seem to be searching or seem to be lost. They follow or chase each other in order to get the answers they so desperately are looking for.
“Untitled Stories” specifically play with a narrative format that is not necessarily linear - the why and how of a situation are left to the imagination of the spectator. What is depicted in each frame is equally important as what is omitted. Large parts of the action happen between the two frames, or completely of the page. In order to fulfill its own desire for closure the spectator is incited to reach inside his/hers own memories and emotions to complete the narrative. Thus, each viewer creates his or her own personal connection and story from the artwork.
